Luckily, there are numerous inexpensive procedures that are very effective and require minimal downtime which can bring out the best in your skin.

One such procedure is microdermabrasion.  The most effective microdermabrasion procedures use a diamond particle coated wand attached to suction.  This allows gentle exfoliation and polishing away of dead skin cells, leaving behind more radiant skin.  This procedure can be done quickly on virtually all skin types and makeup can be immediately applied.

For patients with more sun damage, chemical peels may be used to improve the health of the skin.  Depending on the depth necessary, there are various compounds such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid and trichloracetic acid (TCA) which are very effective.  Chemical peels can take away pigmentary abnormalities and smooth away textural irregularity by causing sloughing of the superficial layers of the skin.  Most require 20-30 minutes in the office and lead to flaking or peeling within 48-72 hours which lasts a few days.  These treatments are also usually very affordable. 

Many patients have dilated blood vessels, brown patches, and blotchiness of the skin from too much sun exposure.  Advanced skin rejuvenating centers offer various laser treatments to address these issues.  There are specific lasers which eliminate blood vessels and others that treat only pigmentary problems.  There are also light sources and gentle resurfacing lasers which can address both.  Most of these procedures are very quick and lead to remarkable improvement in 1-3 treatments.

For patients with loose or sagging skin, there are also many affordable procedures short of going “under the knife”.  New laser technology such as the Titan® laser, causes heating of the collagen support structure of the skin.  This causes rapid tightening as well as prolonged stimulation of the collagen.  This causes overall smoothing and tightening of the skin, usually visible after three treatments.  Treatment is rapid and comfortable. 

For sunken cheeks, deeper lines and wrinkles, there are numerous dermal and subcutaneous fillers which can add natural volume and smooth out lines—The “Liquid Face Lift”.  Depending on the area of correction needed, a skilled injector will help you choose the filler which will best correct the problem.  Most injections only require a few minutes and can be made very comfortable with the appropriate use of anesthetic medications.  Results are often dramatic and can last from six months to three years.

For wrinkles caused by frowning, smiling, or puckering, the gold standard treatment is Botox Cosmetic®, Treatment is very quick and requires only a couple of injections per treatment area with a tiny needle.  This treatment has become very affordable.  Results are dramatic and occur in 3-7 days and last 4-6 months.
